Seems like we go to Portugal a lot these days! Sometimes, we go there to get away for a bit, or to escape huge holidays in Seville, or when family and friends visit.
On this occasion, our friends were in town from Germany, so we decided to show them some of the many interesting places in Portugal that aren’t at all far from our home in Seville.
Cacela Velha is just under two hours’ drive from Seville, so it was an easy leap for some great sightseeing. This fishing village was originally a 10th-century fort, and the current fort there was constructed in the 18th century.
It’s not big by any means, just having a few seasonal restaurants, a wildlife area with some beaches and a lagoon, and an old church. While there’s not much to do, per se, it’s very relaxing and provides some beautiful scenery.
So yeah! Check out some photos below and get there some day if you can.
And of course, a delicious Portuguese coffee to wrap up our little visit.
A very special and very big thanks to all the fine folks in Cacela Velha, and to our friends for coming to visit!
